We covered Math 112 topics on functions. I finally understand domain, codomain, range/image and composition of functions. SJ was very helpful!
Sage
SJ is really helpful and explains things clearly and down to earth.
Yasmine
Calculus b. sj broke down every problem until i understood the problem. We talked about trig integrals, partial fractions, and long division. Now i have a better understanding of each. He is the best tutor!
Jay Park
SJ is a very helpful tutor, able to explain things in a lot of detail, making sure you understand the material you are working on the best you can. I would always go to him for my questions in calculus B.
Tyler
SJ: He was very helpful and helped me understand the fundamentals of calculus. He clearly explained the functions, their graphs, and how to graph the piecewise functions. Its for the calculus course.
Ella Gumola
SJ helped me so much when I was struggling with Calculus B. He made it very easy to understand the concepts and made sure I was not lost anywhere along the way! Thank you so much SJ.
Cam Wilkerson
SJ was very helpful in my tutoring session. He was able to very clearly explain the concepts needed for the calculus course.
Isaac Heath
SJ is very helpful with Calc B and I like how he walks through examples with me.

Hi Professor SJ,
This is late on my part but I want to thank you for an excellent fall semester. I truly have learned a lot about myself because of this class, as you pointed out at the beginning of this semester. Thank you for your patience and understanding with all my questions and for taking the time to help me work through and understand the concepts necessary for me to succeed in the course. As challenging as it was, I enjoyed the course, and although I will not continue with calc B this semester, I am very glad I pushed through in the course and came out of the other side a stronger student. I wish you a good time ahead this semester with your studies and any classes you are teaching as well. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT SEMESTER!
Sincerely, Holga Ongwacho.

Thought I would do horrible in this course but the teacher was very good and made the content clear enough for me to understand calc A.

SJ was very cool, I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor to teach Calculus A to me!

I took calculus A with Professor SJ. I believe Professor SJ did a good job in explaining the material overall. The only thing is that the class is workload heavy which can kind of interfere with other classes. I felt at times that I had to spend more time on this class in order to complete assignments on time than for my other classes that also required more time. I do think these homework assignments helped with learning the material, but maybe if they were spaced out a little more that would have been great. Overall, I enjoyed having him as a professor and his way of teaching is on the right track as well.

He genuinely cares about the academic success of his students and wants everyone to succeed. Although this may not be the best approach for learning calculus, I believe that American students focus more on memorizing math formulas than really understanding them, so going into details about each formula isn’t helpful sometimes. Therefore, it would be better if Professor SJ concentrated more on the idea rather than going into detail to describe how the formulas were created. Overall, he is a very smart professor.

This calculus A class has been the toughest class I have had this semester. I have devoted a lot of time to this class, as expected. I would’ve appreciated a study guide before our exams. Overall I recommend taking this course with SJ for anyone needing to take Calc B as well. It is very intensive and we learn the topics at a very fast-paced, emphasis is placed on understanding the concepts not just passing the class, this matches my learning style and once I got used to the pace of the class I started doing well.

I wish the instructor had a better structure for MAT 118 class, other than that, the course was good and I liked his teaching style.

I appreciate the fact that the grading was on point and learned a lot even though it was lots of assignments but it will help me as well for future use and be prepared.

I took MAT - 118 with him. Great professor and would recommend!

I really enjoyed his MAT 118 class, it got difficult some times but for the most part it was a math class I was able to understand properly! I wished I could nominate him for the teachers award but alas, there’s no option for that.

The instructor was great. He did a very good job clarifying my doubts. I just not appreciate the structure of MAT-181 class because often times we went over the same examples that I had done in my 196 class, I had work to keep up with in both classes and felt overwhelmed, this work cut into the time that I could of used for studying concepts/examples that I still struggled with in MAT 196. Personally when I study, I need a space that is quiet, and so I could not study in MAT 181. Overall I felt like I was just doing “busy work” in this class and that it was taking time away that I needed to be used for studying for MAT 196, I am a college student with other courses too, and I was not aware what I signed up for prior to coming MAT 181 and the whole class structure and assignment overload was a shock to me. I know where and how to use campus resources and I expected to have been given the trust and confidence to seek those resources when needed, but instead I was forced to participate in class that I did not want to be a part of.

Very good course and professor to help guide you with MAT 196.

The instructor and MAT-181 was very helpful for me to keep in pace with calculus A
